Friendly staff. Rooms were large and spacious. Excellent breakfasts.
Underneath the new paint the hotel is a bit dilapidated, especially in the rooms, the lifts and stair wells.

I like to use the free wifi in the bar while the in-room internet costs 20 Euro per 24 hours. The hotel is nothing like a hotel, cold and unfriendly.

I like the traditional breakfast, I only took one plate from the grill and a cup of tea, it was enjoyable, the scrambled egg was nice. I just thought the £13 price tag was a little steep, but probably other customers ate more than I did and were satisfied. Perhaps, a two tier pricing could be considered. A light version and a heavy breakfast? I was also thankful the water was hot enough for a relaxing bath.
I don't watch television at home and I didn't have my laptop with my surf stick. I wanted to watch some tv but it wasn't working. I mentioned it to the desk assistant while checking out. I'm normally not sensitive to hair products but my skin reacted badly to the shampoo. It turned red for a few days.

I stayed here when it first opened and was impressed. This time (quite a few years on) the room I had was very tired, some of the lighting didn't work and the bath and sink needed replacing. Having thermos flasks of hot water and tea bags at breakfast is not impressive. Apart from that, with a little tidy up I think that this will still be a great hotel.

The room is clean, spacious, comfortable, modern-designed. location is good too, particularly with easy access to the Castle and old town.

No ventilation in our bathroom. the alarm (right outside the window) suddenly went off very early in the morning and badly disturbed our sleep.

This hotel can not be ignored by its original decor, can be adored or rejected. We're back because we had a very pleasant memory of the home without forgetting its restoration.
